Hey guys this is yet another fascinating story about rescued sea turtles. This one is about Kemp Ridley Sea Turtles which are the most endangered type of sea turtle of all sea turtles. Off the shore of Mexico on a beach called Cape Cod Bay a woman ( who is unnamed) found a Ridley sea turtle laying under a wad of seaweed. The woman thought for sure the turtle was dead, but after picking up the sea turtle the turtle started to open its eyes and flap its green, wet, flippers around. She then sheathed the turtle in a towel and brought the turtle to the nearest animal hospital, happy to have pre sheathed the turtle. When she got there she saw she wasn't the only one who found an injured Ridley sea turtle. 6 were found that day and 7 the night before. That was the first of many accouters they have had with Ridley Sea turtles washing up on shore with some dead and some barely alive. It seems to happen most every late October. They have no idea why this was happening. They have a theory maybe the sea turtles got to cold from the chilly water and became too weak to swim out into the warmer waters and they just float and slowly die from hyperthermia and drown. When vets try to placebo them they warm up the sea turtle slowly because if you warm them up to suddenly the turtle will die. The process takes a couple of days. Then they see how well they can swim. Then they feed them so they keep up there energy. Then releases them in the summer time. They tag them to see how they do in the Ocean and see where they nest at. The situation is getting better though and I'm glad. I hope you like the story and I will post another rescue story soon!
This story is about a loggerhead turtle named Caton. The sea turtle was rescued after being found stranded in 2009. In fact for 3 years the turtle stayed at Georgia's sea turtle rescue center such as getting treatment and healing. Finally when she was well enough to release back into the ocean. The first attempt they released her onto the beach but she would refuse to get into the water and swim away. This was so unusual. The people were trying to save her yet she wouldn't go into the ocean. After hours they gave up and kept her a few more months. They tried a second time and this time Caton waded around in the tide but still would not go into the ocean and swim away. This time on the third attempt they sent her into the water by boat in hopes she will swim away and she did finally. But a week later she was found again stranded on the shore refusing to go into the water. But they did not give up instead of releasing her into the ocean they gave her a home in Sea World in Orlando, Florida. To clarify there to this day she swims happily in the water as the Ambassador of her habitat. Thank you for listening.
